Dr. Susana Novella del Campo

Principal Investigator
Research Group on Endothelial Cells (LINCE)

Presentation

Dr. Novella studied Pharmacy at the Complutense University of Madrid where she also obtained her PhD in Physiology. She worked in research groups in molecular biology and vascular physiology, including the Cardiovascular Division of King’s College London.
In 2006 she joined the Department of Physiology of the Universitat de València as Associate Professor and in 2007 she joined the Endothelial Cell Research Laboratory (LInCE). In 2019 she was appointed Full Professor of Physiology at the Universitat de València. She currently co-directs the LInCE Group with research focused on sex differences in the cardiovascular system, with special attention to menopause as a fundamental physiological stage in the development of cardiovascular diseases in women. In particular, her current line of work is the identification of microRNAs in the signalling pathways regulated by estradiol and aging associated with cardiovascular pathologies. Her research projects have received institutional recognition of gender perspective by the Conselleria de Sanitat and she currently belongs to the Management Committee of European COST action CA17129 – Catalysing transcriptomics research in cardiovascular disease (CardioRNA) and COST CA21153 – Network for implementing multiomics approaches in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease prevention and research (AtheroNET).
