Dr. Herminia González Navarro

Principal Investigator
Research group on Metabolic Diseases

Presentation

Dr. Herminia González Navarro is Professor of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Valencia. Her training as a researcher began in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a predoctoral fellowship at the University of Valencia and a brief stay at the University of Milan with a Short-Term EMBO fellowship. During her 4,3 years postdoctoral period at the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute of the NIH in Bethesda (USA) she gained experience in lipid and lipoprotein metabolism and cardiovascular diseases by performing studies in animal models. Shen then completed a second postdoctoral stage at the Institute of Biomedicine of the CSIC in Valencia where she continued her investigations on metabolism and atherosclerosis with a contract “Incoming Intraeuropean Marie-Slodowska fellowship” followed by a JAE-DOC Researcher contract of the CSIC. In 2011 she joined INCLIVA as Principal Investigator with a Miguel Servet and an international excellence GenT contracts. Later she obtained a position of Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Valencia and she continues her studies in the same research field as a principal investigator of INCLIVA.

At INCLIVA she developed lines of research related to the study of the molecular mechanisms of metabolic diseases focused on the development of diabetes and dyslipidemia which continue currently in the research group.
