Innovation Unit

The Innovation and Knowledge Transfer Unit is responsible for promoting and managing innovation and knowledge transfer activities at INCLIVA. Since 2024, it has been officially registered as a Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities.

Its main areas of activity include:

Fostering a culture of innovation.
Supporting the valorisation of innovative ideas.
Providing advice on intellectual property.
Protecting and managing R&D results through intellectual property rights or other forms of protection.
Promoting and managing innovation projects.
Transferring research results for commercial exploitation.
Promoting collaborative research between R&D organisations and companies.
Supporting the creation of spin-off companies.
Promoting research results.
Conducting technological watch and strategic intelligence activities.
Providing advice and reviewing R&D contracts related to innovation projects, technology and knowledge transfer agreements, among other related matters.

The Innovation Unit holds the ISO 56001 certification for Innovation management system, awarded by AENOR, which recognises the quality of its innovation management system.

The Innovation Unit also coordinates the Innovation Committee, which has been active since 2018. This Committee is composed of leading researchers with expertise in innovation, representatives from the Medical Directorate of the Valencia Clínico-Malvarrosa Health Department, and INCLIVA’s Management Team. At its quarterly meetings, the Committee provides the Unit with expert advice on innovation and knowledge transfer, supporting efforts to translate inventions and research results into clinical practice.

With regard to its internal policies and regulations, INCLIVA operates under an Innovation Policy, which establishes the framework for the knowledge transfer activities and the management of research results arising from its research activities. INCLIVA also has an Intellectual Property Policy, which governs the management, ownership and exploitation of knowledge and provides a structured framework for managing and transferring innovation within the organisation, as well as a Spin-off Policy governing the creation of new companies.
