Dr. María Dolores Mauricio is Senior Lecturer in Physiology at the University of Valencia, where she completed her PhD studies (2007). Her training in the field of cardiovascular research began in 2001-2002 with a grant from the Ministry of Education. Since then, she has enjoyed both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral grants/contracts, all of them public and competitive, including a “Juan de la Cierva” contract and a stay at the University of Oxford. The research carried out during all these years focuses mainly on studying the vascular mechanisms underlying cardiometabolic diseases, but also in physiological situations (such as vascular adaptations to physical exercise or vascular differences by sex). She also works on the study of the effects that drugs, probiotics, nutritional supplements or nanoparticles could have on the vascular system. She collaborates with other basic and clinical research groups, which gives her a holistic view of the disease to be studied.
